Academic Achievements:

Rolling Valley Elementary School proudly holds full VDOE accreditation, reflecting our commitment to high test scores and rigorous academic standards. We are excited to announce the launch of a Full-Time Advanced Academic Program (AAP) to start for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition to this initiative, we offer specialized programs designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our Intellectual Disabilities (ID/IDS) program focuses on personalized instruction that helps build essential academic, social, and life skills, while our Enhanced Autism Classroom (EAC) provides a structured and supportive setting tailored to the unique learning requirements of students with Autism. These initiatives create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. As part of our School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP), we implement rubrics for data collection, which ensures all students' progress and successes are part of our school improvement process. This method allows us to maintain high instructional standards and effectively monitor each student’s progress, supporting their growth and success.

twoStudent Programs:

At Rolling Valley Elementary School, we provide a range of engaging extracurricular programs designed to inspire creativity and leadership among our students. Our offerings include Robotics, STEAM Club, and the Innovation Lab, all aimed at fostering hands-on learning experiences in STEAM fields. As a designated Code-Up School, we enhance student engagement by teaching vital problem-solving skills that are essential for their future careers. We incorporate computational thinking across all subjects, aligning with Virginia's computer science standards. Through this approach, students learn important skills like pattern analysis, decomposition, algorithmic thinking, and abstraction, setting them up for success in an increasingly complex world.

Moreover, FCPS has acknowledged the remarkable contributions of our staff through the FCPS awards process, recognizing the hard work of teachers, instructional assistants, and our principal, who received the Outstanding New Principal of the Year award for Region 4. RVES staff also do weekly staff shoutouts where colleagues recognize and encourage one another. Many of our employees have been recognized by the FCPS program as well. These achievements reflect our team and their dedication to the success of every student.

Rolling Valley Elementary School is proud to be designated as a Purple Star School, a recognition that highlights our commitment to inclusivity and support for military-connected families. This honor reflects our efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere with resources and programs designed to ease the transition for military families, ensuring that all students, particularly those with military backgrounds, feel supported and empowered to thrive academically and socially. Our school fosters a warm and caring community that values collaboration, communication, and connection. As a small neighborhood school, we take pride in cultivating a positive environment where students, families, and staff work together to create meaningful relationships and a strong sense of belonging. This sense of community is evident as soon as you step through our doors, radiating through every aspect of our work and interactions. We enhance this sense of togetherness through unique initiatives such as buddy classrooms, where older and younger students collaborate on activities that build social skills, foster mentorship, and encourage teamwork. Additionally, we host community gatherings that bring grades K-3 and 4-6 together to showcase their learning. These events not only celebrate student achievements but also strengthen the bonds within our school community, reinforcing a spirit of unity and shared purpose.

This focus on inclusivity and community engagement helps create a warm and welcoming environment that benefits everyone involved.
